Kimel Estate, first established in 1974 by Australian Bobby Gibbs, is now owned by the traditional Opais tribe.  The estate has approximately 1532 acres employing a workforce of 432, all housed on the estate, which provides schooling and medical for those working families and their dependents.

The Kimel Estate management works to implement environmentally friendly farming policies including repurposing the pulp by returning it to the fields as organic fertilizer and recycling the processing water to preserve the nearby rivers and streams used by the surrounding villages and maintaining the plant and wildlife.
